Data Data Data…Its role in improving teaching

February 2, 2018 by Lee Stanley

NQT Primary TeacherImportance of Quality Teaching and Data Use in the Classroom

Teaching quality and data use in the classroom to impart knowledge to the students is a welcomed reform in the school of learning. It is an innovative tool which will enhance school methodology of making teaching and learning effective in as suitable way possible.

Quality Teaching and Its Impact in the Classroom

Quality teaching entails the ability to effectively support students’ learning. In other words, it involves having a crystal understanding of the pedagogical principles and its application to contribute to the improvement of students’ learning.

With quality teaching, students’ productivity improves in the classroom. With the classroom interactions between the teacher and the students, the teacher provides whatever assistance that is needed and necessary to ensure that the student grasps the contents of the knowledge passed across in accordance to their diversification. For example, teachers use prompts, questions, and appropriate resources including social resources.

Quality teaching develops all students’ information skills and ensures that students have easy and available access to information resources when needed. This will go a long way in assisting easy learning for the students and improve their academic performances.

Assessment practices enhance learning. When teachers and students engage in a clear goal-oriented assessment with both parties having concise information about the learning outcomes, teaching and learning will become more efficient.

Using Data to Support Learning Classroom and its Benefits

Using data to enhance learning in the classroom is all about using evidence-based practice to support learning. Educators are using organized data such as student information and standardized test score results to improve students’ learning.

The standardized test carried out near the end of the school year, can influence hugely how a teaching is done, as well as where and what ought to be reviewed and modified to promote adequate learning.

Assessments such as essays allow educators to evaluate the progress of individual and whole-group learning.  If an individual doesn’t do well on the assessment this suggests a prompt review of the teaching strategies towards impacting knowledge that will be suitable for the individual. If a large number of students performs poorly in the assessment, teachers need t revisit their teaching techniques and make needed modifications in the future.

There are vital data about each student stored in their files. A teacher can discover the background of a student which obviously could be a hindrance to his/her learning ability. From a student’s cumulative files, an educator can make out from it the cause of their change in their academic performance. A teacher can express concern with this by sharing the data with them. This way the teacher and the student can devise a way to circumvent whatever problem it is in a bid to enhance the student’s learning.

Poor use of data is worse than no use of data. Training teachers in data use will increase their teaching quality and make them more efficient in passing accurate knowledge in the very best fashion possible to the students.

GCSE Results Day 2015

August 20, 2015 by Lee Stanley

good-luck-bannerStudents across the East Midlands will discover the results from one of the most important stages of their lives… their  GCSE results.

Exam boards also produce the national statistics for all GCSE grades taken this summer.

68.8% was last year’s C or above average,  but with new exams changes in the criteria some heads are worried this may drop this year particularly in maths.

This always poses the question around a transition of the reliability of the results as students will compare themselves to 2014 results.

The main aim for ALL is to appreciate recognise and appreciate ALL the students hard work and achievement. Added the teachers deserve a big thank you for their part.

So. … let’s find out what has happened.  Well be posting on social media updates and successes across the day.

All the staff at Hadfield Education wish you all the luck and success you deserve.
