February 15, 2013 by Lee Stanley

We are all ready for a weeks rest form the hurly-burly of school but what are your plans for over half term next week?

Here are 5 great educational trips that must be taken in at some point in the half term.

1.Natural History Museum, London

Natural History Museum

Whether it be volcanoes and dinosaurs, or ice burgs and whales the Natural History Museum has it all. To fully experience the museum you could spend the whole half term week here. It is huge with full size artifacts and skeletons which will amaze everyone. With free admission, you can wander around zones and floors with ease. Just make sure you take your camera.

2. Nottingham Castle, Nottingham

Nottingham Castle is an astonishing 17th century house built on the location of the  Medieval Castle. The Castle has a troubled past, linked to kings and conquerors and still has a maze of original caves hidden beneath its imposing walls.

3. Lincoln Cathedral, Lincolnshire Lincoln Cathedral | Hadfield Education Personnel

One of the finest Gothic buildings in Europe Lincoln Cathedral provides a fascinating trip for both architecture and history.  Lincoln Cathedral has many stories to tell from Love Stories to trying to find the famous Lincoln Imp. Wandering around the Cathedral is as inspiring as in side with its amazing details, inside you will gasp in awe of the craftsmanship and amazement of the structure. That’s not forgetting the history which is as rich and detailed as the building. This trip is one definitely not to miss out on.

4. Haddon Hall, Derbyshire

Haddon Hall is probably the best example of a fortified medieval manor house in existence. Haddon Hall dates from the 12th Century to the early 17th Century, whereupon it lay empty for over two hundred years from 1700 until the 1920s, when the 9th Duke and Duchess of Rutland restored the house and gardens.

Visit Haddon Hall and enjoy a unique view of English life and history.
